08/01/2011 Entry: "Concerts I've listened to, July 2011"

  • 1970-06-06 Syd Barret London UK Kensington Olympia - A rare 18 minute Syd performance. Sadly, the vocals are almost completely missing. A great cleaning up of this rare show!

  • 2011-06-24 Radiohead Glastonbury UK Glastonbury Festival - Nice, but their shows (or music) have not been super energetic lately.

  • 1970-01-23 Pink Floyd Paris Frane Théatre Des Champs-Elysées - I looked at my big list and I guess I had listened to the AM recording at least once before. Great show. I wish a soundboard was available.

  • 2000-10-20 Pet Shop Boys Dortmund Germany - From the Montage video. I need to see them again!

  • 1979-08-12 OMD London UK Electric Ballroom - I love the super old OMD shows. So light and tinny, but surprisingly good sound.

  • 1983-05-16 Jah Wobble and Prince Minneapolis MN First Avenue - Working through a large multi-disc set of Purple Rain era material. One song performed, the unreleased Cloreen Bacon Skin. Not good sound, and difficult to tell Prince is on it.

  • 1984-10-25 Sheila E and Prince Minneapolis MN First Avenue - Good sound. Prince on one track. Awesome guitar!

  • 1994-01-xx OMD Johannesburg South Africa Standard Bank Arena - Pretty crappy board tape. I thought I've heard better versions of this show. Not necessarily my favorite era either.

  • 1993-05-15-16 Sting Las Vegas NV Sam Boyd Silver Bowl - Opening for the Dead and its a soundboard. Two shows, no overlap in songs. This is about when I completely gave up on Sting. Last bit of goodness.

  • 1991-08-28 OMD Milton Keynes UK Bowl - Another one of Andy's "solo" shows. For an FM I thought that it would sound better.

  • 1991-06-03 Yes Paris France Palais des Omnisports de Paris Bercy - Ah the big Union tour. And about a month later I would see them in Miami (from which I have a really crappy video). 160 minutes of Yes goodness. And it's a PRRP release so you know it sounds, well, pretty good. Fantastically proggy.

  • 2011-07-03 Underworld Arras France Main Square Festival - Audience recording. Really really nice audience recording. Bouncing set list with none of that weird ambient stuff.

  • 2007-07-14 Barcelona Spain Summercase - slightly far away audience recording. short 60 minute set.

  • 2011-07-09 Ben Folds South Works Stage DMB Caravan 2011 - Short 60m set. Very quiet recording.

  • 1983-09-10 OMD Liverpool UK Royal Court - I had no idea that there was a gig with new Junk Culture songs that were not yet recorded. A bit of hiss but so worth it.

  • 1994-06-22 Pink Floyd Minneapolis MN HHH Metrodome - 1st gen source that apparently I don't already have. Too bad the beginning of AD is cute. Poor way to start the recording. Missing a bit of the high end.

  • 1988-05-10 Bruce Springsteen Bloomington MN Met Center - My first (and perhaps favorite) Bruce show. 195 minutes of energy. From the brilliantly listenable Crystal Cat release Bloomington Night. Who did this recording and what else did they record locally?

  • 1986-08-08 Erasure Stockholm Sweden Karlsson - Bonus DVD from the recent Wonderland reissue. Synthpop wonderfulness. Music and vocals are rough performance wise at time. Recording is spectacular.

  • 2011-07-03 Fatboy Slim Las Vegas NV Marquee - A full FBS set! Sweet.

  • 1979-04-18 Yes Quebec City Canada Le Colisee' de Quebec - Apparently a leaked recording from the band. Perfect sounds, and actually some really nice stereo separation.

  • 1987-04-14 Erasure Brighton UK Dome - Another DVD rip.

  • 1983-04-19 OMD London UK Hammersmith Odeon - I'm not sure if I have other shows from the Dazzle Ships tour. OK sound. Like the rest of the other OOMD shows I've listened to recently, it runs fast.
