06/01/2011 Entry: "Concerts I've listened to, May 2011"

  • 1973-03-22 Led Zeppelin Essen Germany Grugahalle - Aud/soundboard mix. Very listenable, but still sounds very 70s distant. I just learned about all of the '73 soundboards and the fact that Whole Lotta Love could get up to a half hour on this tour, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Really enjoyable show.

  • 1989-06-15 Living Colour Lyon France Le Truck - From the master. Redubbed from master tape, much more listenable (louder) and now complete.

  • 1972-05-02 Pink Floyd New York City NY Carnegie Hall - short 72 minute show with no DSOM. Apparently a new (stereo!) transfer. Throw away your old tapes, this one is hot!

  • 2011-03-11 OMD Pontiac MI Crofoot Ballroom - A nice digital recording. Nothing wrong with it at all.

  • 2011-04-15 Chemical Brothers Coachella - Just an MP3. No idea where it came from. Only 60 minutes, but sounds like a soundboard.

  • 1972-02-18 Pink Floyd London UK Rainbow Theatre - Night two of the four night stand. From the new Godfatherecords box set. Oh this is great stuff. Totally worth buying. Oh wait... I have a copy already.

  • 1984-06-07 Prince Minneapolis MN First Avenue - SOUNDBOARD! Nice. Birthday show. Nice. Tasty guitar. Nice.

  • 1983-05-05 U2 Boston MA Orpheum Theater - Really nice audience. HOT HOT show.

  • 1984-05-07 Yes East Rutherford NJ Brenden Byrne Arena - Uncirculated before now. Kinda tinny and audience-y.

  • 1982-08-29 Genesis Montreal Canada Jarry Park - I'm not sure if I've listened to any tapes from this part of the tour with Supper's Ready. Really nice RPRRPGS release. Better than the Milton Keynes show later in the year!

  • 1984-12-24 Duran Duran Birmingham NEC Arena - Really Xmas eve? Distant, hissy and tinny. But really good instrument separation.

  • 1998-06-07 Kraftwerk San Francisco CA The Warfield - A couple of days before I saw them in Chicago, which was easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Really nice audience recording. A little boomy, but really worth listening to.

  • 1986-10-04 David Lee Roth New York City NY Madison Square Garden - I really regret not seeing this show (in Cedar Rapids, not NYC). Not the best sound.

  • 2011-05-12 Roger Waters London UK O2 Arena - Audience from the Gilmour show. What else do I need to say. Oh, Mason on Outside The Wall too. Again, what else do I need to say.
