02/01/2009 Entry: "Concerts I've listened to, January 2009"

  • 1986-04-03 Prince Boston MA The Metro - First "real" date of the 1986 hit and run tour. I love the 3/3/86 First Ave show... his return to touring. Not that much different of a show. Quality is fine. Good long version of Mutiny, America and Purple Rain.

  • 2008-12-13 The Cure West Hollywood CA The Troubadour - Sadly, a cure show under 3 hours long. But a club show so that's good. A little quiet and muddy but still listenable.

  • 1972-12-07 Pink Floyd Lille France Palais des Sports - A newly surfaced mono recording of a show never thought to be recorded. Cleaned up a bit and surprisingly descent sound. DSOM is pretty set it its ways at this point although I always like the On The Run jam. Short-ish too at only 90 minutes.

  • 1984-04-08 New Order Berlin Germany Metropol - Nice pre-Low Life set list. Very clean sound.

  • 2008-05-08 Onetwo Frankfurt Germany Nachtleben - Oooh... Onetwo! My favorite OMDer and my favorite Propaganda chicky. Too bad their music isn't a bit more upbeat. And they cover Have A Cigar! Crazy.

  • 1969-10-10 Led Zeppelin Paris France Olympia - New pre-FM master tape. Pretty hot sound, slightly distant at times. 23 minute version of How Many More Times! Overall, pretty good, but they definitely sound tired compared to the earlier '69 shows.

  • 1989-03-26 New Order Birmingham UK NEC Arena - Audience recording. Really lacking compared to all of the great '89 soundboards.

  • 2008-12-12 Nine Inch Nails Sacramento CA Arco Arena - Soundboard rip from the HD video Trent released to the public. This is probably about as close as we'll get to an official release, which I guess it kind of is... although unorthodox. Amazing well recorded and mixed. So nice to hear some of the detail in the guitars and background vocals.

  • 1997-12-19 Radiohead New York NY Hammerstein Ballroom - Soundboard from promo video. And I've got the video as well, but have never transferred it. Perfect sound. My favorite era! Just an amazing show.

  • 1972-04-28 Pink Floyd Chicago Auditorium Theater - Low gen from a reel. Sadly, incomplete, just the DSOM part. Amazing sound. I might actually keep this one.

  • 1978-01-01 Parlament Funkadelic Detroit MI - Soundboard? Really? Funky!

  • 1995-03-24 Oasis Minneapolis MN First Avenue - My first Oasis show. A little tinny, which surprises me considering it's a DAT. I don't remember my cassette sounding this tinny.

  • 1978-03-26 Genesis Las Colinas ShowCo Rehersals - Had this one tape years ago. Very clean sound, but should be better. Some very timid guitar playing.

  • 2008-09-03 The Ting Tings Sydney Australia JJJ Rooftop - FM broadcast. They are a funky little duo!

  • 1990-01-01 U2 Dublin Ireland The Point Depot - "official" from the iTunes collection. Date varies... they started right at midnight.

  • 2008-12-07 Nine Inch Nails Portland OH Rose Garden Arena - Another board tape from the HD video series. I still can't believe how well mixed it is.
