04/22/2006 Entry: "TravelBlog: zBLC 2006 Day 0"

I'm currently 10040 meters above sea level, and god knows where. I was lucky enough to bump into my IBM travel partner while checking my bag. What was more interesting, is that we then bumped into people getting off the Boise flight and so it was like a little reunion in the airport. My boss wasn't quite sure what I was doing at the airport, but he seemed tired. While waiting to get our passports check, my IBM friend got bumped to business class. Rats. I'm still back in coach. Let me tell you... Business class looks nice.

Today was a busy day besides getting ready to go. The Waters US 2006 tour was slowly unveiling and I had to make arrangements to get tickets for Chicago. So I'm catching up on email and listening to yet another Gilmour 2006 show (I almost have them all!). I was really looking forward to about half a dozen movies that I wanted to watch. Sadly, now it seems that either my video unit isn't updated or (more likely) the movies I want are only in business class.

So that's about it for now. I'm sure that I'll think of more later.

It doesn't quite feel like I've been flying forever, but I know that it's been a long time. I watched "Prime" which was OK, and "Derailed" which was OK as well, although I didn't like Jennifer Anniston getting shot. No one wants to see Rachel get hurt.

I didn't really sleep, which means as of right now I've been up 21 hours.

Finally figured out what I left at home: Extra contacts. Whoops.

We are about an hour outside of Amsterdam and it looks like they are going to serve breakfast.

Flying from Amsterdam to Lisbon on KLM. One of the flight attendants looks just like Parker Posey. I've been falling asleep since I got on the plane, despite the caffeine intake. The funny thing is that my traveling partner slept in business class well and he can't seem to stay awake on this flight either. We are not going to be in sync once we get to Lisbon.

The Amsterdam airport was bustling as usual. Lots of stuff to see but once I grabbed coffee and a croissant, and then a bottle of water, there really wasn't much time to do much else beside get to the gate.

It seems like everyone on this flight is ready stuff in Dutch. I appear to be the odd one look at English.

Parker Posey was handing out candy bars. I love the food on KLM. Lunch was this awesome pasta salad (and I don't like pasta salad), crackers with a nice soft cheese herb spread, and cheese foccacia.
